Karla, th Grey Witch

KARLA, nicknamed the Grey Witch has no face. At least, not that of the human beings that it possesses. Its first victim will be the girl of NIIS, MARFA's priestess. It is to free her from this influence that GIM, the dwarf, will go as far as sacrificing his life. Its second victim is the swindler and a comrade-in-arms of our adventurers: WOODCHUCK.

In the reading of these some lines, one would have trouble not thinking that KARLA is not an enemy, a person devoted to MARMO and the good, nothing is also simple.

In fact, KARLA is a powerful magician of the Realm lost by KASTUUL - cf MYTHOLOGY-. Old woman of five centuries, she maintains her consciousness in the artefact - diadem which allows to enchant every person who holds it.

The role in LODOSS's odyssey is doubtless the most important of all. Indeed, the only purpose is to take care of the balance of the Libra of power, the precarious balance of the Good and the Evil. On this big chessboard, she is the Queen and moves all the pawns as she wishes it. Having helped the SIX HEROES in terraser the KING DEVIL, it returns thirty later to rest on the other side of the tray of the balance.

One says that Justice is blind. KARLA with these three eyes is her just as much. It doesn't much matter that they are good or evil, of MARMO or raising the colours of the holy armies of VALLIS, only account the way of which they can influence history.

KARLA will so go to lend strong hand to MARMO, before killing BELD, to propose power to ASHRAM and even to PARN who can only refuse. In fact, KARLA estimates that only CHAOS can allow balance. History is eternal one resumption and the Wise person WORT, Hero of the first epic will not go against sound ancient companion of weapon. By hiding from all the truth identity of this witch, it guarantees only for the acts of the magician and gives us finally a mature vision of Heroic-fantasy:

Nothing is ever every black or every white. Everything is in the twilight.
